Class of 1954
50th Class Reunion
May 28-29, 2004

A 50th class reunion. The thought is unbelievable!
That we could be this old is really inconceivable!

Our spirits were high, our minds were sharp when we hit Central that September,
And we have all come back tonight with a chance to remember.

We were thin, we were firm, we could dance and we could run.
Then, it was good to be oldest, ‘cause seniors had more fun.

We’ve forgotten most of our problems, especially the tests,
But all of us remember Central’s football team among the best.

Somehow Carol and I. . .at least, I remember her name. . .
Found ourselves presenting a program before a football game.

When Mrs. Cohen heard our names, she responded with a speech,
“Those two can’t be the speakers! They aren’t even taking speech!”

Well, we did it anyway – said something special about each player;
Never did we dream we’d be asked about it later!

Did our comments make them glad, or were they really pretty bad?
They can’t remember what we said; that we can’t either is really sad!

We just remember it was fun; maybe we didn’t really embarrass Mrs. Cohen.

We were SENIORS, we had NERVE; it didn’t matter where we were goin’!

Well, we’re really seniors here tonight and our last nerve is often gone,
But by golly, we’re sure not ready to learn the words!

Sometimes we forget where we’re going and oftentimes even why,
But we just go back to where we started and give it another try.

  1. Our memory may not be very strong,
    But friendships at Central are still dear.
    So what if someone gets our name wrong;
    The main thing is, by gosh, we’re still HERE!
  2.
