How our Classmates responded to
the idea of a 55th Reunion in 2009

These comments were taken from the responses to
Harry's letter as directed to the Yahool email

Emily Bernhardt
Harry - seems as though we have heard from quite a few - some have new e-mails - do you plan to correct our address listing.  Is there some way to mark those we have heard from so at least we will know who is and who isn't interested.  Looks like most of them are a go if they are still around - I understand where they are comin from - don't you?

If you would like for me to take care of those we have heard from I will - just let me know -

Em,
I thought I would download the Address book into a spreadsheet and place a yes or no mark for those who have responded.  I will be updating any corrections to the address book and will probably follow up on those who had bad Email addresses.  A new category can be setup in the address book of those who have responded and we can Email just them if we want to.  So far the response has been very positive.  I am having a vision for the Gathering.

Hi Emily,
I'm writing on the subject of the next reunion.  The last one, the cruise, was so successful that I'm inclined to recommend another.  If we do meet in Memphis, then I think a tour of Central is a necessity, and I can't see why it would be difficult to arrange.  I also think that other classes ought to be invited.  The rule is that we know very well the people in the class behind us and the class ahead of us.  And I'd look forward to seeing folks from those classes, as would, I think, everybody else.

That's about it except that you might want to know that Sherrie and I are in communication.

Say hello to your significant other--a very nice guy!  Take care and I look forward to seeing you in the near future.

All the best,
Joe R (Roitman)

Hello to everyone,
I just sent a message to Harry, but will send this as well, just to be safe. I’m definitely interested in a 55th reunion, and probably it would be fun to invite the classes on either side of ours.  I know of at least two people from the class of 1955 who would come:  Nancy Jo Bell Hamilton and her husband, Joe Hamilton – Joseph A. Hamilton.  They live in Germantown .

Also, please add this classmate’s e-mail to your list, as he very much wants to be informed about anything and everything, and of course, I do as well. This classmate is Bob McAuley and here’s his e-mail address:  bobmcauley@charter.net

Thanks so much - your CHS friend and classmate,

Yes, I would be interested in our 55th.

Hi,
I am a CHS graduate of 1955 and would love for our class to join you for your 55th reunion. My dearest friend, Cynthia Anne Baine DeMaagd, '54 grad, has told me about this and I think it's a great idea for you to combine the classes. You can reach me via my email or calling me at: 756-7218.

Harry,
If I'm around, I will come.

Count me in. My sister, Mary Grace McKenzie Faires, who was in our class, will probably be interested, too. e-mail her and see

Dear Colleagues,
I was not able to come to the last reunion, and do not know if I could come this time.  It is quite a distance, but I have come to some Rhodes College reunions - it is doable.

Right now I am recovering from major back surgery, and cannot go anywhere.  However, the surgery is supposed to make it possible for me to travel normally in the future. And I am certainly counting on that.

So keep me posted on what you plan.

Harry,
I would like to have a good  showing for from either the class of 53 or 55 or both. i really dont think the numbers would be a problem.you know ,to most people the #50 is a big deal just like a #50 wedding anniversary, but to me a gathering of the three classes would have more of an attraction than just the one class.

I’d like to try.  Don’t know what kind of shape the old man might be in by then.
Roger Bullard

I would attend a 55TH reunion.
It might be nice to include other classes 52-55.
My new EMAIL address is davisappraisals@verizon.net.

Hi All,

Yes - I'm interested in a 55th reunion in May 09. Like the idea of an informal gathering with time to talk, get reaquainted, catch up, etc. As one who did go on the reunion cruise, we had lots of time to do all of the above -- and came away from that week feeling connected more than ever before to fellow classmates.

My preference is not to co-mingle with reunions other classes.
Judy (Crainer) Keisling

Harry, you have my correct email address.  If the reunion were being held this year I would not be able to come,  although I do think it is a good idea.  If my situation changes between now and the zero hour then I might be able to come.

I know these things don't happen by themselves and you guys do a great amount of work.  I do appreciate what you do.
Bill Cox

Count me in. Hope all is well, knee progressing well, hope to be back on the tennis court by the first of April.
Milton Knowlton

Harry I think the 55th would be fun.Participation with other classes would be nice.

SOL AND JILL KIRSCHNER THINK IT IS A VERY GOOD IDEA. WE WOULD LOVE TO SEE EVERYONE AGAIN.
SOL (KIRSCHNER)

I'm all for the reunion - Larry Shainberg

Please sign me up for it, altho at this age I don't make too many long
term promises!
Ann Knox Cook

Hi:  A 55th reunion sounds like fun.  As for having a reunion with other classes, would our class know enough people in other classes to make a compatible group?   Whatever the group decides will be fine with me.
Charlotte Curry Miller

Count me in!
Joanne (Cammack) Cain

Will do my best to be there.
Robert G. Burns

Let's do it! Count me in.
Sam Cole

Harry and Emily,

Having a 55th Reunion in 2009 would be great.

Having worked with the '55 and '56 on their 50th Reunion websites, I can assure you that they are both strong classes and may want to continue their individual reunions. Into the future, as our numbers diminish, combining classes for reunions will probably be a good idea whose time will come.
